515 runners completed Saturday’s 45th Carnethy 5 Hill Race [9.1k, 760m] in the Pentlands.
A few Hawks ran with George Foster [56.43] leading them home in a superb 26thplace; evergreen Des Crowe [59.03] in 47th was 3rd MV50 & first local [he’s moved to Penicuik]. Des is now thinking of setting up home in a camper van so that he can contend for first local the length and breadth of Scotland [….kidding]. Craig Love, Dave Mitchell, Phil Forte, Alan Kennedy & hill running legend Charlie Love also ran although it’s fair to say that Craig, Dave & Phil were a bit disappointed with their times given that conditions were very good but the commemorative 45th anniversary bottle of beer and mug compensated. The race was won by Andrew Douglas of Inverclyde in 49.23 with Andrew Fallas, Carnethy, 49.43, 2nd & Tom Owens, Shettleston, 50.45, 3rd. First lady was Charlotte Morgan, Carnethy, 56.46 in 27th just behind George.
