27 Juniors and 9 seniors took part in the last in the series of the East Cross Country League through at Broxburn on Saturday with the organisers having to “break the ice” which was over an inch thick on the infamous “puddle”. It never disappoints! For the u11 girls there was a 7th place for Lola Venditozzi and the u11 girls team (Lola, Cameryn Barclay 14th and Alex Tully 24th were counters) were 3rd team on the day. For the u15 girls Anna Bennet was as consistent as ever finishing 12th in a field of 44. For the women, Louise Beveridge was first Hawk in 40th with u20 Eilidh Reynolds not far behind in 52nd. Andrew Merry had a brilliant run for the u17 men finishing 2nd. Backed up by Calum McCormack 11th and Declan Gall 18th the team were 3rd on the day and were pipped by Edinburgh into 2nd for the overall series trophy…! Blair Scott had a strong run to finish 10th in the u13s (along with Aidan Simpson 16th and Scott Vigrow 22nd they were also 3rd team on the day) In the u11 boys Josh Taylor also ran well to pick up a 10th position. Billy Gibson ran his last race as a senior on Saturday (40 the following day) before moving up to vets and finished in 40th overall. (Would have been 1st vet 😜…good thing about getting older!) Well done to all who ran in the freezing conditions over solid icy ground. There were a few casualties/fallers, twisted ankles and spike injuries but still everyone finished. It has been a really good series. I will post final series standings for the teams when they are finalised.
