Scottish Schools Indoor Championships.
Hawks members won 5 medals at the championships held at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on 9th February. Iona Brodie was 2nd in the Over 16 Girls 800m in 2:18.60 and Jamie Crowe matched that with silver in the Over 16 Boys 1500m in a pb of 4:8.25. In the sprints Rhys Paterson won his first national medal taking bronze in the under 16 Boys 60m in a pb of 7.46. Ewan McBride was 3rd in the Over 16 Boys 60m in a new pb of 7.23 and then followed that up in his 6th race of a long and tiring day by taking bronze in the 200m with a new pb of 23.07. Well done everyone.
Scottish Masters Indoors Events
Again, at Kelvin Hall on 12th February, Roger Van Gompel (M40) finished 2nd over 3000m in a time of 9:48.38 and Susan Young (W35) won the 400m in 59.61 and followed that up an hour or so later by winning the 200m in 27.12 (Susan had also run a 400m pb of 59.13 the previous weekend as a guest at the Scottish University Championships).
Age Group National Indoor Relay Championships
A Hawks Under 18 mens team finished a valiant 4th in the final of the 4x200m relay being pipped for bronze by Edinburgh by just 0.26. The team of David Assiph, Ewan McBride, Ben Pearson and Rhys Paterson set a new club U20 record of 1:35.50.
