(PF writes): Some of the usual Hawks suspects made the short trip over the bridge on a rare fine evening for this 5 miler which goes up from the village to the TV masts on the nearby hill via various farm tracks, woodland paths and open fields. In fact, it could easily be classed as a hill race. There were 112 finishers. First Hawk home was Billy Gibson, 11th, then Davie Adam, 19th [of Olympics fame], Steve Matthews 24th [just about recovered from his Clachnaben run in April], Phil Forte 30th, Craig Love 52nd [delayed by a wrong turning !] and Steve Cromar [65th - 1st MV70].
This was the last of Fife AC's midweek trail race series. Results on their website soon. The counters were St Andrews 5k, Hill of Tarvit, Blebocraigs/Strathkinness, Newburgh & Balmullo. Special mention must be made of Davie Adam MBE who in his RAF capacity was chosen to run the Union flag up the flag pole in London at the opening ceremony of the Olympics - well done, mate! Not sure if that makes Davie more famous than Ron McIntosh or not but what with Eilish McColgan making it to the Olympic steeplechase as well, we are going to be spoiled for someone to ask to present the trophies at the annual prize-giving evening.
