The sun was shining for the six Hawks who made the trip through to Grangemouth for the latest counter in the Senior’s Road race championship. The race started and finished at the Grangemouth stadium with a fast flat course sandwiched in between. Wayney Ghebresillasie of Shettleston followed up his Scottish 10 mile title from the previous week by leading the field home in a time of 30:57. Fiona Brian (Metro Aberdeen) was the leading lady in 35:49.
First home for the Hawks in 28th was Billy Gibson with a PB of 34.37 to take the Veteran title. Mike Herron (35:13) was just pipped on the line by Shettleston’s Rio Olympian Tewolde Mengisteab followed closely by Munro Stewart (35:37), Johnny McBain (36:10) and Andrew Leech (37:23). Nicola Tully (51:10) was the only female Hawk to travel but was rewarded with a PB to add to her 6 points.
