Weekend news

This weekend Billy Gibson travelled down to Northumberland for the Kielder marathon. On what I have heard is a very beautiful but extremely hilly course Billy put in a great run to finish in 11th in a time of 3:03:44. Well done to him.

It was also the weekend of the Great Scottish Run. A few Hawks travelled through to Glasgow for the half marathon event. Senior Gary Bruce was the first Hawk home in 151st clocking a time of 1:23:41, Gareth Irons wasn’t too far behind finishing in 1:29:27 and Louise Beveridge put in a great run whilst raising money for charity…running in a Bananaman costume and still managing to clock 1:32:24!! Fraser Ritchie also ran in the half finishing in 1:36:21. Well done to you all.

A little bit closer to home, two of our juniors (James and Ryan Donald) made the trip to Giffordtown in Fife for the fast and flat 5km. Both of them put in fantastic runs. James finished in 3rd overall and was the first junior home in a time of 16:28. Younger brother Ryan also ran well finishing in 60th in a time of 20:59. New PBs for both of them. Well done guys.
