It has been another busy and successful weekend for the Hawks! Some of our junior Hawks were competing in the National BB XC Champs on Saturday. Aidan Simpson came home with a silver in the junior section, Jack Anderson a bronze in the Intermediate section and the Intermediate team of Jack, Callum McCormack and Jamie Simpson won team gold. Meanwhile down in Irvine there were a number of Hawks at the National Secondary schools XC. Well done to all that ran. Best performances of the day were Ryan Donald who finished 19th in the u14 age group, Andrew Merry who was 20th in the u17s and a fantastic 7th place for James Donald in the u17s which puts him in the picture for a possible Scottish Schools vest (to be confirmed).
Camperdown Parkrun saw Craig Love finish first Hawk, second overall in 18:52. Chris Reid was 3rd overall in 19:25. First junior in 20th overall was Davey Begg in 22:05. Junior, Scott Vigrow ran parkrun for the first time completing the course in 24:06. Well done all.
Many of the senior Hawks are preparing for the London Marathon this year so there are a number of half marathons penciled into the training plans. On Sunday Bruce Scott travelled to Inverness for the half marathon. He completed it in a PB time of 1:18:42 finishing 31st overall and 6th v40. Also in Inverness Jennifer Carrasco ran a PB of 1:24:19 to finish 6th female. Lee Strachan pulled on the Hawks vest for the first time last weekend at the Bath half marathon. Lee ran a PB of 1:18:48 finishing 114th. A number of the other seniors will be running the half at Alloa next weekend.
The Donald family all ran the Gartmorn 6 on Sunday. James Donald was 3rd in the 6mile senior race and younger brothers Ryan and Jack were 3rd and 2nd in their u13 and u10 2mile races.
Great running everyone.
