The next race in the club’s hill championship series is the club-hosted Glas Tulaichean uphill race which takes place on Saturday 3rd June at the very scenic Dalmunzie Estate in Glenshee (Spittal of Glenshee) This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in running on the hills to dip their toes, literally, into hill racing. The race follows a well-defined path (with a couple of short river crossings) from the farm up to the summit of Glas Tulaichean, which is a Munro if you want to claim “bagging a Munro.” Once at the summit you can jog back down at your own pace to the farm where there will be refreshments available. Entry on the day and Registration at the farm from 12:00 to 13:15 latest.
I am also desperately looking for someone to help timekeeping at the summit so please get in touch if you can help 07714 221628
There’s also the Glas T “Toe Tickle” race for small kids if families want to let their wee ones run up a wee hill and down again – sweets and a certificate for finishers (as long as they are still smiling at the finish line!
Dates for you diaries
The following races will be included in this year’s club hill racing championship series. As usual you need to complete 3 short and 3 medium races to be eligible. This year I am going to add two short races which will be off-the-calendar races and just for Hawks to compete in. Details of these races which will be local, will be published in due course but the races will be in the summer/autumn. Watch this space….

Is anyone who is going to Broxburn on Saturday able to pick up 50 plastic stakes from Alex Jackson from SA and bring them back to Dundee for me. They are needed for the Masters XC on 28th

I have been asked by Scottish Athletics if we can provide 2-3 volunteers to assist at race declarations to distribute the team envelopes. You would need to assist at Ardler Community Complex on Saturday 28th January between 11 am and 1:30 pm. If you would like to help with this, please email me at email@example.com or call/message me on 07714 221628
The last race in the 2016 Hill Racing Championships took place at Mealle a Buachaille in the Cairngorm mountains on Saturday 22nd October. Three Hawks took part in the race – Billy Gibson, Chris Walsh and Phil Forte. Billy Gibson needed to run to complete the six required races – 3 Medium Category and 3 Short Category races. After running the Amsterdam marathon in a PB of 2:43 last weekend, Billy wasn’t sure if he could do that but he did and in the end had a fine race leading the hawks home. Billy is the V40 Champion
Although Chris Walsh completed six races and was first senior in all but 1 of them, unfortunately he did not complete 3 short races, so the Senior Men’s Championship goes to Munro Stewart this year.
Phil Forte ran all but 2 of the series of races and had won the V50 Championship back in August.
No other age categories or women’s categories were contested this year
Thanks and well done to everyone who took part and hope to see more of you competing next year
The club’s White Tops race is on Friday 1st July. I’m looking for people willing to help with marshaling and other duties. I don’t want anyone who is intending to race to help, but hopefully there are others who would like to help the club. Please contact me on 07714 221628 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Disappointing turn out for this year’s uphill race on a glorious sunny day in the hills. The race is now running at a financial loss. Let’s hope the club supports the White Tops Race on Friday 1st July.
Many thanks to those who came and raced and those who helped out. Full results are here

After two races in the series, points are now on the board but there’s a long way to go and you can still enter races and get your hands on a trophy at the end of the season. Next race is on our doorstep at Kinnoull Hill on Thursday 19th May.
After some lengthy discussions with the new owners at Dalmunzie Estate, they have agreed to allow us to continue to hold the Glas T uphill race. The race will take place on Saturday June 4th at 2:00 pm. It is too late to change the club hill race championship series but I hope that you will still support the race by either competing, assisting or just spectating. The Glas T “Toe Tickle” race for under 7s will also be held if there are enough kids who want to run. For more info give me a shout on 07714 221628 or at email@example.com
