Last nights Brig Bash 5 mile race included 7 Hawks in a field of 230. Top Hawk was 3rd placed James Donald (27:39), Gareth Irons also put in a good performance finishing in 16th place (29:31). Next up was Phil Forte (33:18), Alan Lawson (35:02), Angus Donald (36:42), Richard Davidson (39:21) and Joyce Donald (41:36). The undoubted highlight was the after race buffet 🙂
At the Grangemouth Open Graded meeting, the 100m races were slowed by a headwind and a track still soaking wet from an earlier downpour but the Hawks athletes still produced some fine runs. Michael Tarnawsky 11.85, Mike Tarnawsky 12.55, Anna Ferguson 13.19 (and long jumped 4.38m), Niamh Robertson 13.44 and Emily Paul 14.98.
However, the long sprints proved fruitful for the Hawks contingent with Rory Muir running his first 400m since 2011 and posting a fine pb of 51.04. There was also a 400m pb and Masters M40 record for Mike Tarnawsky of 57.56 improving Gordon Barrie’s previous record of 59.1. Not to be outdone under 17 Michael Tarnawsky also set a new 400m pb of 54.23, Susan Young set a season’s best of 59.21 and Robbie Ewen ran 56.32 just missing his pb.
In the 300m, under 15 Niamh Robertson ran her fastest electronic time of 43.64, just outside her pb of 43.5 and Emily Paul in her first run over the distance ran 47.17.
Unfortunately there was no buffet at Grangemouth 🙁
